Sacred Heart Identity & Mission
The mission of Sacred Heart Greenwich is more than a statement—it is the foundation that shapes how we learn, lead, serve, and come together as a community. As part of a global network of more than 150 Sacred Heart schools in 41 countries, we are united by a shared identity rooted in faith, intellectual curiosity, social awareness, community, and personal growth.
The Sacred Heart Identity & Mission program provides opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and families to deepen their understanding of the history, heritage, spirituality, and traditions that make a Sacred Heart education unique. Guided by the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education, the program fosters reflection, dialogue, and connection as it explores what it means to live our mission in today’s world.
Through ongoing formation, prayer, conversation, and community experiences, we seek to ensure that every member of the Sacred Heart community understands and embraces our Catholic, Sacred Heart, and independent-school identities.
Living Our Mission Together
The Sacred Heart mission comes to life through shared experiences that bring our community together. Throughout the year, students, faculty, staff, and families participate in opportunities that celebrate our shared values, honor diverse perspectives, and strengthen our sense of belonging.
Mission Moments & Mission Mondays
Faculty, staff, and students are invited into moments of reflection and prayer that connect our daily work to the spirituality and traditions of the Society of the Sacred Heart. These opportunities explore the lives and legacies of figures such as Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne, and other leaders who have shaped the Sacred Heart tradition.
Community Celebrations & Cultural Experiences
Events such as the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Service and Taste of the Heart celebrate our commitment to community and belonging. Through prayer, storytelling, food, music, and cultural sharing, these experiences invite members of our community to learn from one another and recognize the richness of our shared experiences.
Faith, Reflection & Dialogue
Through programs such as 1.4 Talks, interfaith conversations, liturgies, retreats, and opportunities for reflection, students and educators explore the many ways faith and values shape how we understand ourselves, connect with others, and respond to the needs of the world.
Educating Our Community
Ongoing formation opportunities help students, faculty, staff, and families explore the history and spirituality of the Society of the Sacred Heart, the Philosophy of Sacred Heart Education, and the Goals and Criteria that guide our community.
