Community and belonging are not initiatives—they are at the heart of who we are.

Since 1848, Sacred Heart Greenwich has been committed to educating the hearts and minds of students who are diverse in talent, ethnicity, and religion.

Rooted in the Goals and Criteria of the Sacred Heart and guided by the belief that every person is created in the image and likeness of God, we are committed to ensuring that each student is known, valued, and loved for who she is. We believe that every individual possesses unique gifts and experiences that enrich our community and strengthen our shared mission.

Inspired by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, whose vision centered on the transformative power of relationships, we recognize that meaningful connections are the foundation of an exceptional education. Through authentic relationships with peers, teachers, mentors, and families, students develop the confidence to grow intellectually, spiritually, socially, and emotionally while learning to appreciate the dignity and worth of every person.

As an all-girls, independent, Catholic School, our commitment to community and belonging is woven throughout every aspect of school life. Rather than existing as a separate initiative, it is reflected in our classrooms, campus ministry, service learning, advisory program, student life, and daily interactions. Guided by Catholic Social Teaching and the Sacred Heart tradition, we foster a culture where students learn to lead with empathy, listen with openness, seek understanding across differences, and work for justice and the common good.

Goal IV, Building of Community as a Christian Value, calls us to create an environment in which every member of our community feels welcome, respected, and empowered to contribute. We believe that true belonging is built through mutual respect, compassion, and a shared commitment to caring for one another. It is strengthened when every voice is heard, every individual is treated with dignity, and every student is encouraged to become the woman God created her to be.

Together, we strive to cultivate a community where relationships flourish, diversity of thought and experience is valued, and every student has the opportunity to grow in faith, purpose, and confidence. In doing so, we prepare young women not only to succeed in college and beyond, but to become compassionate leaders who build communities of hope, justice, and love wherever they are called to serve.

Many of our student-led clubs play an active role in advancing our Community and Belonging initiatives, creating opportunities for students to connect, celebrate diverse perspectives, and strengthen our school community.
