Before School

• Lower School students can arrive on campus as early as 7:45 am and are supervised in a classroom until 8:00 am. 
• Middle School students can arrive on campus as early as 7:30 am and report to the "Early Room", supervised by a middle school teacher, until 8:00 am. 
• Upper School students do not need to report to a specific classroom if they arrive to school early, but most will use this time to meet with teachers. There are always classrooms buzzing with activity! 

After School

• Lower School offers supervised Extended Day care from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. The cost is $15 per hour, per student, charged to the student's account. Lower School also offers after-school activities through the Tiger Times program from 3:10 pm - 4:10 pm. More information about Tiger Times offerings will be available in the fall. Students may join Extended Day after their Tiger Times program has concluded if they are staying on campus past 4:10 pm.
• Middle School students have the option to stay on campus for athletics, theater, or other clubs, depending on the time of the year. If staying on campus after these activities have ended in the afternoon, Middle School students must sign into a supervised study hall in the library until 6:00 pm. Students should be picked up no later than 6:30 pm. 
• Upper School students may stay on campus for athletics, theater, and other clubs. Most Upper School activities end around 6:00 pm. Students should be picked up no later than 6:30 pm.

Students in Kindergarten - Grade 12 also have the opportunity to take voice or instrumental lessons through the After-School Music Program.

• Athletics: Students who would like to play on a Middle School or Upper School athletic team are asked to complete sign-up forms this spring.

• Other after-school clubs and activities: Registration for Lower School Tiger Times all other after-school programs and clubs will take place once school has begun.

Participation in the interscholastic athletics program is voluntary and open to students in Grades 5-12. Click here for more detailed information about athletics for middle and upper school students. Students may sign up to play a sport next year using one of the following forms:

Yes! All new students and parents are invited to an Orientation program in late August, prior to the start of the 2023-2024 school year. The dates and times for each grade level are listed below.

Lower School and Middle School students will hear from their classroom teacher or advisor in August. Upper School students will meet their advisor at Orientation Day on August 30.

Parents' Association Coffees: The Parents' Association hosts informational coffees for each division at the beginning of the school year. This is a great time to meet other parents, hear from key contacts in the Parents' Association and your child's division, and learn about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. 

Back-to School Night: Each division hosts a special evening for parents at the beginning of the school year that gives parents the opportunity to learn more about curriculum and meet the teachers and other parents. 

The Weekly News: Every Friday afternoon when school is in session, the Weekly News is emailed to parents. This is a great resource which details upcoming events, the school calendar, important announcements and volunteer opportunities. Class Parents: Throughout the year, class parents will also send reminders about all-school events and special happenings related to your child's classroom or grade, so be sure your email address is up-to-date in the Parent Portal!

Who is "Mater"? What on earth is a "goûter?" Part of what makes the Sacred Heart community so special are our beloved traditions, ones that are passed down through generations of students and alums. Below we've listed some key Sacred Heart terms and traditions that will help get you up to speed in no time!

Goûter: A French word for snack; students enjoy a goûter provided by the school to mark a special occasion or celebration.
"We had goûter after lunch to celebrate the end of the first semester."

Congé: The most anticipated day of the school year! French for "farewell", Congé is an in-school holiday when classes are cancelled and students channel all of their energy into community building activities and having fun. The date when Congé will take place each year is a closely guarded secret until the morning of, and the campus erupts with excitement when the announcement is finally made! 
"Thank goodness I wasn't sick today; I would have missed my first Congé!" 

Civvies Day: A dress-down day for students (no uniforms)! Civvies Days happen throughout the year to mark special events, holidays, celebrations, fundraisers or Spirit Days. Lower and Middle School students may also wear "civvies" on their birthdays or half-birthday (if their birthday falls during the summer.)
"Have you seen my ugly Christmas sweater? We have a holiday-themed Civvies Day tomorrow and I want to wear it to school!"

Green and White Teams: Go Green! Go White! Our fiercest on-campus rivalry is the year-long competition between the Green Team and the White Team, culminating in the announcement of which team has amassed the most points after Field Day at the end-of-year. All new students are inducted onto the Green Team or White Team during their first year and remain on that team through graduation. (If you happen to meet a Sacred Heart Greenwich alumna, chances are she'll still remember what team she was on!)
"We had a huge Dodgeball tournament this morning and the Green Team won. We're now ahead of the White Team by 50 points!"

Roary: Our fearless Sacred Heart Greenwich Tigers mascot. If we're cheering on our teams, chances are high that Roary, our green and white Tiger, is right there on the sidelines with us!
"As soon as we won the championship, Roary rushed onto the field with us to celebrate!"

"Mater" (The Feast of Mater Admirabilis): “Mother Most Admirable,” the name given to the fresco of Mary painted by a Religious of the Sacred Heart in Rome in 1844; reproductions are now found in every Sacred Heart School around the world! The Feast of Mater is celebrated on or around October 20 with a prayer service or liturgy, a special pink goûter, and all community members are invited to wear a "pop of pink", a nod to the color that Mater is wearing in the painting.
"I am going to wear a pink shirt and socks on Friday because it's the Feast of Mater."

Prize Day: The formal end of the school year where students are recognized for achievement and progress. Each division has their own Prize Day and parents are invited to join their child for this very special ceremony. Prize Day marks the official beginning of summer vacation. 
"I can't believe that Prize Day is this week! My first year at Sacred Heart has flown by so quickly."
