The Pamela Juan Hayes ’64 Endowment Fund, established in 2021, will generously support the FUTURES program: Foundations in Thinking, Research, Entrepreneurship, and Social Action.

Pam was fond of quoting St. Madeleine Sophie Barat’s forward thinking mantra: “Fear of innovation is weakness of mind.” This mission-based, integrated program will continue Pam’s legacy of a deep love of learning, grounded in the Goals and Criteria -- an education of mind and heart that develops women leaders of courage, compassion, and conviction.

Pam devoted her life to the mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart. As a student, alumna, teacher, Middle School Head at Greenwich and 91st Street, and Head of School at San Francisco and Greenwich, Pam was a true child of the Sacred Heart. Pam’s gracious spirit, strong faith, and love of students are her legacy, and this fund will ensure her enduring influence for future generations.

Pam Hayes remarked at a celebration in honor of her 50th year at Sacred Heart Greenwich, “St. Madeleine Sophie's vision, rooted in the love of God, was focused on an all around preparation for intelligent, active, noble, and courageous living.” A leader for our times, Pam’s vision was practical; she recognized the wisdom in Madeleine Sophie’s words: “Times change, and we must change with them.”

In that spirit, Sacred Heart Greenwich seeks to launch the FUTURES program: Foundations in Thinking, Research, Entrepreneurship, and Social Action.

FUTURES is a mission-based, integrated program enabling each student K-12 to build foundational skills through multiple pathways.

Foundations in:

Thinking: Hands-on experiences - in design thinking, environmental awareness, makerspace fabrication, media making, virtual reality labs, clubs, and workshops with experts - will teach our girls how to think critically, embrace real-world challenges, and discover innovative solutions.

Research: Experimentation, project design, modeling and data analysis, as well as collaboration, will allow our girls to hone their leadership, investigative, and project management skills, as they grow to become savvy community changemakers and respected global influencers.

Entrepreneurship: Students’ entrepreneurial know-how and passion will be ignited as they build self-confidence and novel solutions in finance, business, technology, and policy.

Social Action: Students will be empowered change agents who understand the complex, interconnected ecological, social, and economic dimensions that serve the common good.

This programmatic approach further deepens the vision of our foundress and extends the scope of Sacred Heart’s signature Barat Foundation grantmaking and preschool-12 service programs by fostering student engagement in Catholic social teaching and activism (Goal III) and social justice philanthropy as a force for social change.

Taking our girls into the FUTURES depends on ‘U’. Thank you for your support building the Pamela Juan Hayes ’64 Endowment Fund.
