Elizabeth Yeager, '21 has been named to the 2021-2022 U.S. Women's National Team Roster. 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following evaluation at the Young Women’s National Championship (YWNC), held at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va., U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Anthony Farry and his staff have named the 2021-22 U.S. Women’s National Team roster. This newly named 36-athlete squad has a depth of experience, but also a mix of young emerging talent.

Last month, the NFHCA High School All-American Committee created the High School IMPACT Senior Team to recognize members of the graduating class of 2021 whose senior seasons may have been impacted by COVID-19. The committee designed the award to honor the entirety of senior student-athletes’ careers and particularly recognize an individual’s accomplishments on and off the pitch, distinguished leadership, and team achievement.

Below is our last spring 2021 varsity captain highlight. Our Upper School teams are finishing up their spring seasons over the next week. Check the team pages for score reports, and stay tuned for our Spring Season Recap later in May! 

 

The Upper School Track and Field team is the reigning FAA Champion, winning the inaugural meet in 2019. The team qualified a number of athletes for the 2019 New England Championships and finished 7th overall, one place better than the previous year. (There was no championship in 2020 due to COVID-19.) The team is currently undefeated this season, with a record of 8-0. They will compete in their last FAA meet on May 15th at Brunswick.

During the next few weeks, Sacred Heart Greenwich will highlight our spring varsity captains as the Upper School student-athletes compete with their teams this season. Stay tuned for weekly posts showcasing our leaders! 

The rowing team has participated in two races this season and is gearing up for their last one this Saturday vs Farmington HS. Our captains and the members of the Class of 2021 have made a lasting impression on our rowing program, pushing the team forward and setting up a foundation for future success.

Our Varsity Water Polo team earned their first-ever invitation to the 2019 New England Water Polo Tournament as the #5 seed in only their second year as a program, and first as a full NEPSAC member. The team won their quarterfinal round but lost to the eventual champion, finishing with a strong 4th place. (There was no tournament or formal competition in 2020 due to COVID-19.) This year the team has had a strong season, with a current record of 3-4 with more games to go in the last week of the season.

The Varsity Golf has a current season record of 3 and 2 with more matches to go in the final stretch of spring. The team participated in the 2019 New England Pippy O'Connor Tournament where the team placed fifth overall and the 2019 Caroline Dym '18 Memorial FAA Tournament where MaryGrace Farrell ’21 placed 2nd overall. (There was no tournament or regular season in 2020 due to COVID-19.)

Varsity Tennis finished 3rd in the FAA Regular Season in 2019 and earned an invitation to the New England Class A tournament, the first one since 2016 (There was no official season in 2020 due to COVID-19.)

Varsity Lacrosse is the reigning FAA Tournament and Regular Season Champion, winning back-to-back-to-back in 2017, 2018, and 2019. (There was no champion in 2020 due to COVID-19.)

Winter 2020-21 Captain Highlight: Swimming & Diving

Throughout the winter, Sacred Heart athletics will highlight our winter team captains as they lead their teams this season. Stay tuned and check back for posts showcasing our student-athlete leader!
 

Sacred Heart’s Swimming program is co-captained by Grace Lillis ‘21 and Karina Adams ‘21 and the Diving program is captained by Lauren Mirando ‘21.

Being a new coach this season, I really appreciate how both Karina and Grace have worked alongside me and the assistant coaches to help the team grow,” said Head Swim Coach Noreen Haggerty. “I know this is not the season either of them envisioned having during their senior year, but regardless, they have remained upbeat and dedicated to the team. I am thankful for them both!”
