The Sacred Heart Leadership Academy provides leadership-based skills training that is age and need-specific. Students are grouped by age with a specific focus for each cohort that year (freshmen, sophomore, junior, senior and additional programming for varsity level captains). The program consists of opportunities for individual student-athletes and teams to develop life skills that address teamwork, followership, communication, resiliency, resourcefulness and more through our classroom-based sessions, team-specific training events, athletic program-wide retreats, panels, and guest speakers.
Participation each year will culminate in a certificate for those students that successfully complete the training. Meetings are woven into the academic school day with limited out of school meeting times to make it manageable for students to fit this program into their busy schedules. Students who complete all four years of the training will be presented with a mastery certificate.
Upper School Sports Night, held each September, will launch the program each year for all our student-athletes and families. Sports Night programming will include a presentation on the overall vision of the Athletic Department, programming updates, and a different guest speaker each fall.
Enrollment information will be shared each spring/summer for the subsequent year. Students may choose to opt in or out of the program on a rolling, yearly basis. This program is required for our Varsity and JV-level captains.
