Meet the Head of Upper School

Mrs. Meghan McMahon joins Sacred Heart Greenwich from Urban Assembly School for the Performing Arts (UASPA), a school she helped establish in 2006, and where she has held various roles including Assistant Principal of Supervision, and most recently Principal. In her new role, McMahon will serve as the educational leader of the Upper School, responsible for the education, physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of the members of the Upper School community to ensure that all constituencies work together to create a dynamic and inclusive environment. In addition, she will oversee programs to support educators and oversee the coordination of the co-curricular and extra-curricular activity programs.

As a co-founder of UASPA seventeen years ago, McMahon has been instrumental in building and leading the only non-selective performing arts high school in New York City.  During her time there, she led the development of the school’s Comprehensive Education Plan and established a clear vision and mission to support student success, aligning goals, programs, and policies. McMahon also oversaw teacher development and support, managed school budgets, worked closely with admissions to recruit and enroll students, and created a master program to best incorporate guidance departments. Prior to UASPA, she worked at Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Newton, MA.

“As a graduate of a Sacred Heart Network School, I am honored to be joining Sacred Heart Greenwich as the new Head of Upper School,” said McMahon. “This opportunity allows me to combine my love of education along with my deep appreciation of the values instilled in me through the Goals and Criteria and I look forward to educating the next generation of female leaders.”

McMahon holds a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross, a Master of Arts in Teaching and History from Tufts University, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College.
