Student Success Initiative

At Sacred Heart Greenwich, we are dedicated to empowering every student to reach her full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. To support this mission, we are proud to introduce the Student Success Initiative, a comprehensive approach offering personalized support opportunities to inspire growth in every learner. As identified in Pursuing Excellence, our five-year strategic plan, this solidifies our commitment to equipping each student with the skills and confidence to thrive and excel both in the classroom and beyond.

Introducing Mrs. Kim Sapone and the Student Success Team
Under the leadership of Mrs. Kim Sapone, Director of Student Success K-12, the Student Success Initiative has evolved to meet the needs of all students. Mrs. Sapone leads a team of Learning and Math Specialists who work closely with faculty to ensure best practices and innovative strategies are used to support all learners. Recent professional development highlights include Orton-Gillingham literacy training for Lower and Middle School educators and workshops on Universal Design for Learning for Upper School faculty, enhancing instruction at all levels. In addition, the Middle School Humanities and Science educators received training in Expository Writing.

Tailored Academic Support
The Student Success Initiative provides tailored academic support across all divisions. In the Lower and Middle Schools, students benefit from small-group and one-on-one sessions with specialists, while Upper School students access dedicated learning periods or drop into Writing and Math Centers for targeted assistance. These resources ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.

Enrichment Opportunities for All
Enrichment is embedded in our curriculum to challenge and inspire students at every level. In the Lower School, differentiated instruction and specialist-led groups provide advanced opportunities in reading and math. Middle School programs include the MS Math Challenge, advanced math and world language courses, the 7th Grade CogX course on metacognition, and the 8th Grade Capstone project. In the Upper School, students engage in rigorous AP, Post-AP, Capstone, and Independent Research opportunities, preparing them for college-level work and beyond. We look forward to sharing updates on our educational enrichment opportunities in future communications.

The Student Success Initiative offers centrally located spaces in each division designed to foster collaboration and accessibility. In the Lower School, dedicated classrooms for both Learning and Math Specialists provide targeted, individualized support. Middle School students benefit from all-day access, drop-in support, and a morning flex period in a dedicated classroom tailored for a variety of learning needs. In the Upper School, the space, located in the library, is facilitated by Learning Specialists and supports students through flexible scheduling and individualized guidance.

The Student Success Initiative ensures every student at Sacred Heart Greenwich is supported and challenged to achieve her fullest potential. By offering enrichment and personalized support opportunities, we are empowering confident, capable learners ready to excel in all aspects of their lives. We look forward to continuing to support your daughters on their academic journeys.
