Meet the Head of Middle School

Sacred Heart Greenwich faculty staff leadership goals criteria

Mr. John Zwack has held leadership positions here at Sacred Heart Greenwich for sixteen years. Before becoming the Head of Middle School, John spent fifteen years as the Academic Dean. For six of those years John also taught fifth grade history and was an advisor. Before coming to Sacred Heart Greenwich, John spent four years at Foothill Country Day School in Claremont, CT teaching sixth through eighth grade history. Additionally, he taught eighth and tenth grade history at the Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood, NJ for eight years, and in the last three years served as the 9th and 10th Grade Level Dean. Along with teaching, John serves as a girls' youth lacrosse coach in his hometown.

As a long-standing member of the Sacred Heart community, the Goals & Criteria are critical to John's approach to teaching and education. "As a middle school leader, my goal is to work with faculty to deliver a robust and individualized academic program while fostering an environment where students are given the opportunity to engage in all of our offerings -- arts, technology, wellness, service, athletics and more," he said. "By focusing on a rich, student-centered, holistic approach to learning, students have an opportunity to grow in so many ways, especially as their mind, body, and spirit develop.  As our foundress first outlined, we want to build courage and confidence in the classroom and beyond to prepare the girls for a successful transition on each step of their middle school journey."
