The Educational Access Awareness Awards sponsored by the Area 9 Cable Council (A9CC) and Altice were announced May 25 and include 14 awards for Sacred Heart Greenwich students. Filmmakers in Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School were recognized in this competition.

Sacred Heart students won the Grand Prize, "Repicky Award," in Middle School and Upper School. Each Repicky Award is a $500 grant for the School to be used for media equipment to elevate student educational experience. With these two awards, the program earned $1,000 this year.

The Area 9 Cable Council (A9CC) and Altice sponsor this contest yearly to encourage students to develop video production and storytelling skills by creating access television shows relevant to their school and community. The regional Ed Access competition is open to students from Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Darien, New Canaan, Weston, and Westport.

"This is an incredible achievement for our young filmmakers to be recognized in this regional competition. Many contests focus on Upper School students. It is especially exciting to see the work of K-8 students celebrated. I commend Mrs. Dunn and the Lower School students for producing their weekly news show this year and am thrilled the eighth graders were able to participate in a Wednesday Filmmaking course this spring," Director of Media Studies, Design & Innovation Ms. Ellyn Stewart said.
