Student Focus

AVERY '20

Avery has been a member of Broadcast Journalism since she was a freshman. She has taken her passion for filmmaking from the control room to Ireland. When she traveled to Ireland for the Exchange program, Avery combined her passion for travel and filmmaking by creating a short film about her travels. She thrives in the control room, helping to lead the studio shoots and serving as floor director. For the past two years, Avery incorporated her gift for filmmaking into her community service work by serving as a counselor in Sacred Heart's summer claymation class.

"At Sacred Heart we are able to use our broadcast and media resources to illuminate important topics and catalyze impactful action within our school and local communities. In addition to my role as a Producer for "Today from the Heart," I worked on a piece called “Dancing with Disabilities” in which I was able to document the power of dance to help children with disabilities. The medium of film and the spirit of Sacred Heart allowed this important story to shine. It is a great feeling to know that as a Sacred Heart student I have the unique ability to participate in this dynamic field."
