ADMISSION PROCESS
Welcome to the Barat Center for Early Childhood at Sacred Heart Greenwich. We thank you for your interest in applying and look forward to getting to know your young learner. Barat Center welcomes students of diverse backgrounds and faiths. We are committed to the development of each student’s intellectual, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Our early childhood program offers boys and girls a balanced, thematic and creative educational experience that prepares them for success in kindergarten and beyond!
The Barat Center for Early Childhood Education is a special place on the Sacred Heart campus. We invite prospective parents to spend the morning in Barat Center as you shadow our three-to-five year old boys and girls. During this interactive experience, you will learn about our enhanced Early Childhood curriculum, meet Head of Lower School and Barat Center faculty, and experience first-hand the learning environment and family-friendly atmosphere created to honor our young learners!
Application Process
Through the application process, we collect information that is age appropriate and that will serve as an indication of the student's potential for success at Barat Center. All applications, supporting materials and visits must be completed by February 1. Decision letters will be mailed on the Friday closest to March 1. Online Application: To begin, please submit the online application. This is the first document required to begin the application process. It can be submitted before the other required documentation. Once the online application has been received, you will be contacted regarding a visiting day and interview for you and your child.
Visiting Day: Your child will be observed in a group setting during a Barat Center Playdate held in January.
Parent Interview: After your child's application has been submitted, parent(s) may schedule a meeting with a member of the Admission Office.
Supporting Documents: If your child is currently enrolled in a preschool program, we ask that you submit the following forms to his/her current school:
- Teacher recommendation
- School director recommendation
- Supporting education records.
The appropriate person will complete each form and send it directly to the Admission Office at Sacred Heart Greenwich.
Parent Statement: At Barat Center, we feel strongly that your child’s education is a partnership between parents and educators. As part of the application process, we ask that parents complete a Parent Statement based on the Goals and Criteria of a Sacred Heart education, reflecting on why you feel Barat Center is the right school for your child. Your Parent Statement can be submitted with your initial application or separately at a later date.
