Sacred Heart Greenwich Students Tour Google's NYC Headquarters

Recently, four Sacred Heart Greenwich Sophomore students, along with their Computer Science teacher, Mrs. Nystedt, had the opportunity to tour the new $2.1 billion Google offices at St. John’s Terminal in New York City. Opened in 2024, the innovative campus was built within and above a historic rail terminal and was thoughtfully designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and connection with clients.

Blending technology with nature, the workspace features rooms named after trees, an abundance of indoor plants, and artwork inspired by the natural world and iconic New York City elements, including the famed Guastavino tiles found throughout many city landmarks.

The 12-level building includes a wide variety of spaces designed to encourage teamwork and community-building. Students explored restaurants and cafés intended to bring people together over food — with one popular Google legend tracing the creation of Gmail back to conversations held in a company café. Additional highlights included a teaching kitchen for team cooking experiences, micro kitchens, wellness facilities, a gym, game spaces, an auditorium, an events hub, flexible meeting rooms, conference spaces, outdoor green areas, and inviting common spaces throughout the campus.

Please see below some photos from their visit.
