Sacred Heart Greenwich Announces New Director of Advancement

Sacred Heart Greenwich is delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas A. McCarthy as the new Director of Advancement, effective September 3, 2024. McCarthy, a seasoned leader with more than 18 years of experience in educational advancement, brings a wealth of experience in development, fundraising, capital campaigns, alumni and external relations, data analytics, and strategic planning.

Most recently, McCarthy served as the Director of Institutional Advancement at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, 91st Street in New York City. In this role, he advised the Head of School and Board of Trustees on advancement strategies and resources needed to effectively engage and support the school community. Under his leadership, he increased fundraising targets and built strong relationships with key donors, which significantly advanced various initiatives and campaigns. Prior to his tenure at 91st Street, McCarthy served as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Mount St. Michael Academy in the Bronx, NY, and held various roles at Manhattan College, including Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.

In his new role at Sacred Heart Greenwich, McCarthy will oversee the school's advancement program, focusing on strategic planning, fundraising, and alumni relations. He will implement proven strategies to enhance fundraising efforts and alumni engagement, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and reinforcing the Goals and Criteria. His leadership aims to foster a supportive and growth-oriented environment, driving continued success and community development. I would like to thank Margaret Carter and the entire advancement team for their dedication during the transition. Tom will work closely with Margaret, who will focus on building and strengthening relationships with donors and ensuring that our philanthropic efforts align with the strategic goals of Sacred Heart Greenwich.

McCarthy holds a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Mathematics & Computer Science from Manhattan College. He is also a Ph.D. candidate in Administration and Supervision at Fordham University, with an anticipated completion date of Spring 2025.
