The Sacred Heart Greenwich Varsity Basketball Team has made school history, capturing its first-ever NEPSAC Class A Basketball Championship with a thrilling 53–46 victory over Loomis Chaffee on March 8, 2026.
Entering the 2025–26 season with an already impressive legacy that included five FAA regular-season titles and three FAA Tournament championships, Sacred Heart Greenwich set its sights on adding a new milestone. As the second seed in the tournament, the Tigers rose to the challenge in the championship game, defeating top-seeded Loomis Chaffee and ending their four-season championship streak.
Fueled by strong contributions from across the roster and unwavering determination, Sacred Heart Greenwich maintained its composure down the stretch to secure the historic win—marking a defining moment for the program and the entire school community.
“We are incredibly proud of this team and everything they accomplished this season,” said Sacred Heart Greenwich Director of Athletics Laurie Rousseau. “This championship reflects the dedication, resilience, and teamwork our players demonstrated all year long. We are deeply grateful to our coaching staff for their leadership and commitment to developing these student-athletes, and to our players for representing Sacred Heart Greenwich with such heart and determination. To be able to say that this group won Sacred Heart Greenwich’s first-ever NEPSAC Class A Basketball Championship is truly something special.”
The championship caps a remarkable season for Sacred Heart Greenwich, which finished with an outstanding 21–7 record. And while every win mattered along the way, victory No. 21 will undoubtedly be the one the team—and the Sacred Heart Greenwich community—will never forget.
