Habemus Papam – We Have a Pope

Habemus Papam – We Have a Pope

We joyfully join the global Church in welcoming Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the newly elected Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, the first American Pope! The announcement is a moment of profound spiritual significance—one that transcends borders and unites the faithful in hope, prayer, and renewed purpose.

It was truly a privilege to witness this announcement alongside our students today. In celebration, we invited the girls to ring the Sacred Heart Greenwich bell—a tradition that marks moments of spiritual importance on our campus. To see our students engaged with the life of the Church in such a tangible and joyful way was a beautiful reminder of the strength and vitality of our faith community.

As a Catholic, independent Sacred Heart school, we hold this moment close to our hearts. It is a reminder of our enduring connection to the universal Church and our mission to educate young women through the Goals that we embrace—faith, intellect, justice, community, and wisdom.

Let us keep Pope Leo XIV in our prayers as he begins this sacred responsibility, entrusted to him by the Holy Spirit and embraced by the faithful around the world.
