Update on Head of School Search Process - 10.31.19

Dear Sacred Heart Greenwich community,

Over the last four months, the Head of School Search Committee has worked closely with our search consultants at RG175 to identify candidates who have the necessary qualifications to serve as the next Head of School of Sacred Heart Greenwich. Previously, we shared with you our position description, which was approved by the School’s Board of Trustees and has guided our search consultants in their outreach and the committee in its evaluation of candidates. To date, we have reviewed over ninety candidate profiles, conducted numerous calls and visits with Heads of Schools and outstanding educators around the country, and more recently, interviewed a smaller group of promising candidates during our semi-finalist process carried out during the month of October.

At this time, the Search Committee and the Board have unanimously agreed to put forward two finalist candidates for further consideration by the Board, the Advisory Committee and the entire school community. We are happy to share that both finalists are currently Heads of all-girls Catholic schools, have extensive experience in high-performing institutions, and have strong educational backgrounds.

While schedules are not yet confirmed, we anticipate that these two finalists will visit Sacred Heart Greenwich sometime between November 11-22, at which time we hope you will have a chance to visit with them. We will share more information with the School community when we finalize plans for these visits.

We present these finalist candidates to the community with enthusiasm while recognizing the possibility that additional information may yet emerge during the upcoming visits or during reference checks that causes us to reconsider whether the candidates are indeed a good fit to lead Sacred Heart Greenwich into the future. In addition, there are times when finalists come for a visit and recognize that the school is not a fit for them. Should we conclude these visits without sufficient confidence to move forward with either candidate, we will extend our search process and put into action alternative plans that will ensure sound leadership of the School next year, while we continue our search for the right permanent Head of School.

We know how important this decision is for present and future generations of Sacred Heart students, as well as faculty, staff, parents, and alumnae. As such, we look forward to hearing your candid thoughts and reflections about the finalists we will put before you in November.

Sincerely,

Kathleen O'Connor '89, P'20, '21, '22
