Sacred Heart Greenwich seniors Isabel DeVita and Lily Santangelo were named candidates in the 2021 US Presidential Scholars program, which recognizes the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. The duo is part of a pool of 4,000 candidates selected from millions of U.S. high school seniors; the scholars will be selected in April.
Established in 1964, the Presidential Scholars Program recognizes students for leadership and service to school and community. The scholars demonstrate exceptional academic achievements; visual, creative, and performing arts talents; and accomplishments in career and technical fields. In April, about 800 semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of educators. In May, the Commission on Presidential Scholars, appointed by the President, will select up to 161 scholars.
