In a letter to community members today, Board of Trustees Chair Kathleen O'Connor announced the Board's decision to name Margaret Frazier as Sacred Heart Greenwich's 34th Head of School. Frazier's term will begin on July 1, 2020. O'Connor's community memo follows below.
Dear Sacred Heart Greenwich community,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Head of School Search Committee, I am pleased to announce that the Board has voted to appoint Margaret Frazier as the 34th Head of School at Sacred Heart Greenwich. Meg, who currently serves as Headmistress of Marymount International in London, U.K., will begin her term on July 1, 2020.
The Board charged the Search Committee with finding a Head of School who would honor Sacred Heart’s historic mission and Catholic identity; a person with relentless intellectual curiosity; a student-centered and infectiously positive leader who inspires across all constituencies. The Board of Trustees believes that we have found exactly this Head of School in Meg Frazier.
Meg’s academic tenure spans two years at Marymount International, an all-girls, independent Catholic day and boarding school; 15 years at Georgetown Preparatory School, a Jesuit day and boarding school outside of Washington, D.C.; and two years as Head of Upper School at our sister school, Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, Maryland. Throughout our comprehensive search process, Meg showed herself to be all that her references supported. She is a collaborative leader, an effective communicator, and a passionate advocate for all-girls education.
In her roles at both Marymount International and Stone Ridge, she served as a spiritual leader of the institutions, working to nourish and foster each school’s unique mission and history. She has developed innovative academic visions and implemented curriculum updates across disciplines. Meg has truly had a taste of the Sacred Heart Catholic mission and all aspects of independent school life over the course of her career. She has taught English, history and Spanish, directed college counseling, coached soccer and basketball, been a semifinalist for the White House Fellows Program and been named a NAIS E.E. Ford Fellow. Meg holds an A.B. from Dartmouth College and a certificate from the John F. Kennedy School of Government Leadership Institute at Harvard University.
“I feel so privileged to be selected as the next Head of School at such an outstanding all-girls Catholic school, with a well-known history of preparing young women for lives of leadership and service to others,” Meg writes. “Now in the third decade of the 21st century, the School’s mission is just as important today as it has been in the past and our care for each girl’s needs will drive our brave work together. I have every faith that active partnerships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumnae will allow me to guide Sacred Heart Greenwich forward in gratitude and grace."
This is a homecoming of sorts for Meg, who grew up in Connecticut, and she’ll be joined in Greenwich by her husband, Don. Meg has two sons who live in Washington, D.C. and Denver, CO, as well as a daughter who lives in London.
We would not have found Meg without the extraordinary contributions of the Search Committee, chaired by Thomas Lehrman P’22, ’32, and the Advisory Committee. On behalf of the Board and the entire Sacred Heart community, I extend to them our deepest gratitude for their service.
