This week, the Sacred Heart Greenwich community joined together in support of earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria. In presentations to the Upper and Middle Schools, Belen S. ’24 and Bridget M. ’24 discussed the events of the earthquake and described the relief work by humanitarian organizations. To raise awareness and funds for the International Red Cross/Red Crescent, students and faculty wore red and made donations. The Middle School also held a bake sale to benefit the International Red Cross, raising over $1,000 in contributions!
These student-centered efforts directly align with the Lenten practice of almsgiving and connect with the Lenten theme to “sow seeds of love.” It is a true example of how children of the Sacred Heart are called to exercise a social awareness that impels action and cultivate a lifelong commitment to service.
