Commencement Speaker Angela Hwang Inspires at Class of 2023 Luncheon

On Monday, March 31, the Class of 2023 was delighted to host Ms. Angela Hwang, the 2023 Commencement speaker, for an introductory lunch. Ms. Hwang has a special connection  to the Sacred Heart community, as her daughter, Miss Alexa Choy ’20, graduated just three years ago. 

Mr. Michael F. Baber, President and Head of School, introduced Ms. Hwang and shared highlights from Ms. Hwang’s influential tenure as a Pfizer executive team member, where she serves as the company's global biopharmaceuticals business president and chief commercial officer. He also shared Pfizer's profound impact in helping more than 1.4 billion individuals to improve their health, and in certain circumstances, save their lives. It was inspiring to hear about Ms. Hwang’s impressive credentials and dedication to impacting global health.

In her lunchtime address, Ms. Hwang graciously discussed the honor of being selected as the 2023 Commencement speaker. She shared fond memories of her daughter's senior year at Sacred Heart Greenwich, which COVID-19, unfortunately, cut short when Sacred Heart transitioned to online learning. Ms. Hwang also expressed how wonderful it felt to be back in Caroline’s Core Center, the class gift from Miss Choi’s class, the Class of 2020. Her personal connection to Sacred Heart Greenwich was evident, and her words resonated deeply with my class. Ms. Hwang also emphasized the value of a Sacred Heart education and the significance of our last weeks together as a class. 

The Class of 2023 eagerly awaits hearing Ms. Hwang’s Commencement address on June 9 and feels grateful for the opportunity to engage with Ms. Hwag during the lunch. As the Class of 2023 prepares to embark on the next chapter of their lives, Ms. Hwang’s remarks will inspire them to strive for excellence, make a difference in the world, and cherish the values and education they have received at Sacred Heart Greenwich.
