16 students virtually inducted into Cum Laude Society

In a virtual ceremony streaming from the Sacred Heart Greenwich chapel, Head of School Pamela Juan Hayes ’64 inducted 16 members of the Class of 2020 into the Cum Laude Society on Monday, April 20, 2020. The Cum Laude society celebrates extraordinary scholastic achievements in secondary schools. 

Colleen Considine ’08 addressed all of the virtual attendees, discussing the ways today’s inductees tackle problems and master new skills as well as the characteristics that define the inductees and bring meaning to their lives. Considine is currently pursuing her M.D. at the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences after graduating from Boston College with a degree in biology and taking post-baccalaureate courses at Harvard and Northeastern Universities.

Congratulations to all of the 2020 inductees: Malika Amoruso, Caroline Badagliacca, Zada Brown, Cameron Calcano, Emma Caruso, Alexa Choy, Gabriella DiBiase, Valentina Grether, Victoria Hannett, Elisa Howard, Sydney Kim, Grace McDevitt, Nicole Mellert, Grace Nemec, Jacqueline Prata and Julia Welsh.

Greenwich Time: Sacred Heart Greenwich graduates celebrate a senior year that Zoomed by

Sacred Heart Greenwich held a drive-through graduation celebration last month. But on Friday, the Class of 2020 had an opportunity to say a final in-person goodbye to their beloved school. Dressed in white dresses, the 82 graduates gathered across from Salisbury Hall for an outdoor graduation, celebrating a senior year they won’t forget.

One Heart Committee Update

Last week, I announced the formation of a new Board Committee now known as One Heart: Advancing Equity, Diversity & Inclusion co-chaired by Carmen Hughes P’27, ’31 and Sandie O’Connor P’19, ’23. Its mission is: to intentionally build and strengthen a more diverse and inclusive environment in which all students, faculty, and staff feel valued, respected, and connected to one another so that each can do his/her best work, share his/her ideas and perspectives, and have a consistent experience of belonging.

Greenwich Time: Greenwich student finds inspiration close to home for her artwork

Each year, Greenwich’s Bruce Museum celebrates works of fine art by emerging young artists with its iCreate exhibition. From more than 850 submissions, 56 were selected for this year’s iCreate 2020 display. Katie Keller, a 2020 graduate of Sacred Heart Greenwich, learned how precious life is from watching her grandmother’s experiences with Alzheimer’s disease. It also inspired her artwork, as Keller reflected on how Alzheimer’s disease impacted her family.
