Meet the President

Mr. Michael F. Baber, President of Sacred Heart Greenwich has more than two decades of Sacred Heart education. A distinguished educator, he has been recognized with prestigious honors including the Edward E. Ford Fellowship in 2005 for his leadership and dedication to academic excellence. Mr. Baber holds a B.A. in Philosophy from St. Charles Seminary and a Master’s degree from Sacred Heart University. His unwavering commitment to the mission of Sacred Heart schools is evident in his extensive leadership experience across key areas such as academic innovation, faith formation, social action, community engagement, enrollment management, financial aid, and philanthropic advancement.

From 2016 to 2023, Mr. Baber served as Head of School at Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School, a fellow member of the Sacred Heart Network in St. Louis, Missouri. There, he worked in close partnership with faculty and staff to foster student growth, academic rigor, and spiritual development.

Prior to his tenure in St. Louis, Mr. Baber spent fifteen impactful years, from 2000-2015, at Sacred Heart Greenwich, including twelve years as Assistant Head of School. During this time, he played a transformative role in the life of the school—chairing both the Education to Mission and Curriculum Committees, establishing the school's first diversity committee, leading a successful $21 million capital campaign, and coaching athletic teams across all three seasons. He also guided the Summer Outreach farming program, deepening the school’s commitment to service and sustainability.

Mr. Baber's return to Sacred Heart Greenwich in 2023 is a meaningful homecoming for both him and his family. He is joined by his wife, Lauren Major '79, an alumna of Sacred Heart Greenwich, and their two children, Allison and Patrick.
